Here is a short video from one of our pastors, Stew, as he talks about life at SCPC this week.
Welcome to The Pastors’ Post, an update for life at Southern Cross.
Today’s post comes on the cusp of the end of the state-wide lockdown, with some parts of NSW opening up tomorrow, albeit with various restrictions. How are you feeling about it? I know for some, this lockdown at least in their mind was a slight speed bump. One week then back into it…then one week, became two, then two became three, and on and on. For others they just learned what it means to live the lockdown life! Then, with yesterday’s announcement from the Deputy Premier, another gear change on the way. So with this change of gear, our staff at SCPC have had to adapt again, as many of you know all about too, it can be tiring and confusing can’t it?! So for this coming weekend, as planned by our staff team, our 10 am Sunday scattering will go ahead on ZOOM with ZOOM rooms for kid’s church following, as you may have noted on our website and Bronwyn’s email to the church family today. However, our 6pm gathering will meet in person at Park Ave this Sunday night 12th September.
Will you need a vaccination passport to join us at 6pm? It’s interesting isn’t it? The quick answer, as you would know, is no. But if you head to our website, in the transcript to this video, you will see a link to fascinating conversation with one of our former Elders, Akos Balogh, the acting Principal of Christ College, and a local Anglican pastor from Sydney, as they explore the world of covid vaccinations in Australia. Lots of wisdom, grace and prayer required in this space.
So to repeat again, for this Sunday 12th September, 10am on ZOOM, 6pm at Park Ave, with previous restrictions in place. Peita, our director of music at SCPC, has spoken to service NSW to see whether there is provision for live music at 6pm. We will know more by Sunday.
Head to our website next week to hear details about our Sunday gatherings on Sunday September 19th. We will continue the conversation with Lismore High and Invercauld House about that date.
What are your plans for tomorrow? I know some GCs have made plans to meet, but I do pray you enjoy some freedom tomorrow and an opportunity to catch up with loved ones.
Remember this Sunday we conclude our Term 3 series heading to the European town of Philippi to hear those famous words from the jailer: “What must I do to be saved”.
So let me finish with this great line from Paul’s letter to the Philippian church in chapter 4 that seems so helpful in this confusing time:
6 Do not be anxious about anything,
but in every situation,
by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Thanks for tuning into The Pastors’ Post.
