Here is a short video from one of our pastors, Stew, as he talks about life at SCPC this week.
Welcome to The Pastors’ Post, an update for life at Southern Cross.
As you will no doubt have heard, life in lockdown for the Northern Rivers continues until September 10th, or at least that is now the current target! It’s all a bit exhausting isn’t?! Just one week lockdown…then two…then three…and on it goes.
At our staff meeting on Tuesday, we had already anticipated the challenges of holding Celebration Sunday on September 12 at City Hall, therefore we have postponed Celebration Sunday to October 17th at 10am at City Hall. We are hoping this may put us in a position to meet in person under the COVID plan of City Hall which would mean we could have 250 persons as well as musicians and speakers present.
So, how did you go this week with your calico squares? We know lots of the kids church squares are almost complete and a BiG thanks to those who have dropped their squares in to the red calico bin beside the letter box at Park Ave. Please keep bringing them down, there is a BiG job ahead to keep stitching them. We hope the final quilt we be completed Monday 4th October. And what a story it will tell!
Sadly though, there have been some cancellations:
Tuesday night’s Equip has had to be cancelled due to sudden issues that have arisen for our presenter, John. Therefore you will find a DNA study from 2 Corinthians 4 on the blog for this weekend’s ‘Sunday scattering’.
The Christianity Explored Weekend Away at Evans Head September 3-5 has been cancelled.
The Young Adults Weekend Away has had to be cancelled due to the date change of Celebration Sunday.
Lots of changes! Lots of mess! But we entrust ourselves to our Father God who through all this jumble, disarray and tangle is weaving our story. Do you believe it? I know it’s hard to believe! But listen to the prophet, Habakkuk.
Let me read from Habakkuk 2:13-14:
13 Has not the Lord Almighty determined
that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire,
that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?
14 For the earth will be filled
with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.
Thanks for tuning in to The Pastors’ Post.
