   Hi Pete,

   We were away when you initially discussed bringing your Bible to church. Vicki is thinking about buying a (hard copy) Bible. What translation do you think she should consider? Will SCPC eventually buy more NIV 2011 Bibles? What about the Holman Christian Standard Bible?

   P.S. I am reading my Bible and taking notes on my mobile during the talks, not checking out Facebook etc!

   Hi David

   I’ll probably write a blog post on BYO Bible next week which will include all the relevant info including Bible version stuff. As for what Vicki should buy, it probably depends on what she’s used in the past. If the answer is the NIV ’84 then I would recommend the NIV 2011. The main reason for this is the same reason we’ve chosen to go that way as a church: the NIV 2011 is the closest to the NIV’84 and therefore the most familiar and easiest to adapt to. Other versions were considered, including the Holman and the ESV but any possible benefits weren’t considered sufficient to warrant choosing them over the NIV 2011.
