The Persecuted Church
Praise our almighty God who we can trust and rely on to be with us in every situation. Give thanks for the Holy Spirit who strengthens the faith of Christians living under political and cultural persecution for their faith. Give thanks for the powerful witness of these courageous souls whose confidence in Jesus is a great rebuke and encouragement for those of us who follow Jesus in much easier circumstances. Pray in particular for:
China
Praise God for the dramatic growth of the gospel in China over the last 50 years, in spite of the hardship of Communist rule. Give thanks for the work of Open Doors who have provided millions of Bibles for Chinese believers. Pray for wisdom for pastors where opposition to the gospel remains strong. Pray that they will lead their churches faithfully in listening to God and not man.
Syria
Praise God for the Christian love being shown to Syrian Muslim refugees in Lebanon. Give thanks that in a country that largely resents the presence of refugees, this counter-cultural love is opening hearts to the gospel and that many Muslims are turning to Jesus as Saviour & Lord.
