I am happy to let everyone know that I have now officially started METRO!
This has been a long time coming and what better year to start on than 2013AD.
My desire to do METRO has been with me ever since 2006 around the time I became a Christian. To me METRO represents having time to grow in my knowledge of and pleasure in God. It’s time that I can spend getting to know how to run a Church and ministry, and how to serve God better by serving His people. I don’t really know what to expect, but I know that I will grow in humility and a servant heart (God willing).
I am really thankful to our Church for giving younger men a ‘go’ and allowing us to be trained and share leadership. The benefits of a training Church cannot be over stressed!
My hope and desire for all of us this year is that we would all ‘grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.’ (2 Pet 3:18)

It is great to have you as our latest SCPC Metro trainee. As a congregation we have been blessed over the years to have so many young folk become Metro trainees with a desire to grow in Christ, to study His Word and to serve us at SCPC, and to go on to further training with a view to full-time ministry. We have seen you grow up in Christ among us and will seek to pray for you as you enter this new phase of your journey.
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” Col. 2:6

It has been great to see many people go through METRO. Seeing how it has grown others has played a key role in my decision to do METRO.

Hi Mark. Sorry about the post above – bumped the “send” button by accident! I noticed you said above that “METRO represents having time to grow in my knowledge of and pleasure in God.” I’ve just started reading and listening to a bit of John Piper talking about “Christian hedonism”, which I’ve found really refreshing and encouraging. Have you read or listened to any of his stuff on Christian hedonism?

Yeah I have listened to a lot of John Piper!
I 100% agree with Piper that “God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him.”
Christian hedonism is something I want to be teaching to all Christians. So I also pursue modeling it in my life.
What are you thinking about it all?

Yes, I agree with the doctrine of Christian hedonism and I’m trying to be a better Christian hedonist and enjoy God more! Not only is sin wrong, but it is unfulfilling (see Rom 6:21 below). Lust promises so much and delivers so little. Living for and with God is what we were made for, and this “tastes” good to His saints (see 1 Pet 2:3 below)
