There are a couple of verses in this section of great interest:
18 “But will God really dwell on earth with men? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!
I think it is amazing that even at this momentous occasion for the Israel, the dedication of the temple in Jerusalem, the king of Israel realizes this is not quite appropriate.
I mean how is it that the God of the universe, the God of creation could be contained within 4 walls.
Solomon himself is amazed that God would even dwell in the temple.
But will God really dwell on earth with men?
How amazing is it then when the New Testament proclaims that this God dwells in us:
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? 1 Cor 3:16
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? 1 Cor 6:19
The word, Jesus, who became flesh dwelt amongst us. God came to earth. Now because of the blood he shed to cleanse us, dwells within his people.
God dwelling on earth in men.
