Ryde Rehab resident, Mick, went home last week. His outgoing positive nature will be missed by all who he engaged with. Just one in the 20 that come and go through the spinal ward, each with a different story, type of injury and length of stay, the average being about 5 months.
James goes in for his first nerve operation on the right arm on September 13th. The second operation – on his left arm – should be a couple of weeks after that. If you would like to know more click here: “Holding his nerve “ABC 7.30 Report – the story of Jack Vawdrey.
James is staying positive and working hard at mastering the skills that will help him do more for himself and preparing for life at home. He just received a NEW electric wheelchair and it was soon individualised with LKI bling!
It was AMELIA’S BIRTHDAY last week. What a blessing , so many go through this experience without a special someone who is 100% there for them. It’s lovely to see them wandering off or just sitting together. PRAISE TO ABBA FATHER FOR RAISING UP THIS SPECIAL GIRL!
Our scheduled home date is the 19th of October so activity on the house is being ramped up (in joke)… Thanks so much for the prayers and support from so many people and may God be with you on your journey.
For those who’ve recently joined us at SCPC, we’d like to welcome you with a newcomers lunch this Sunday, 11th September from 12pm at the Playsted’s house, 16 Somerville Ave, East Lismore.
Both Sunday soccer teams have made it to the Grand Final to be played on the Lismore High playing fields this Sunday, 11th September from 3-4pm. Come and play or come and cheer!
Celebration Sunday is coming up on September 18 (note the revised date). It’s a special day to praise our great God and celebrate the wonderful things he’s been doing in our church family throughout the year. Celebration Sunday starts at 9:30am and ends around 2:30pm, including games & a spit roast lunch (please bring a side dish to share). There is no PM gathering on Celebration Sunday.
Celebration Sunday ‘Gift Boxes’
At Celebration Sunday we’re keen to have creative contributions from as many members of our church family as possible. This year, the idea is to wrap and decorate a box to express what church family means to you. We are providing gift tags to attach to your box to write your thoughts and add further expression. Contributions will be received between now and Celebration Sunday.
Want to put your practical skills to good use? There are always plenty of jobs being added to the SCPC maintenance list. Check out the “Pot Hole Ministry” booklet on the Community table at church to see how you (and some friends!) could lend a hand in “the family business”.
