1 Chron 26:20-29:30
I wonder if today’s passage begins to answer part of the question Simon posed yesterday:
I wonder what the people of the day made of Chronicles 22:10?
He is the one who will build a house for my Name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’
For the close of 1 Chronicles sees David speaking some words of wisdom to Solomon and sets up the story for 2 Chronicles. Listen to the man to man, David has with “the boy”:
9 “And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever. 1 Chron 28:9
Would Solomon serve God with wholehearted devotion? Or would he be rejected forever?
1 Kings will reveal the answers to these questions.
Ultimately the book of Hebrews would answer these forever questions:
because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25Therefore he is able to save completely[a] those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Heb 7:24-25
