Here is a short video from one of our pastors, Matt, as he talks about life at SCPC this week.
Hello Southern Cross church family, Matt here with the Pastors’ Post – just one week out from Good Friday.
That’s right, the year seems to have just kicked off and here we are at the end of Term 1 already.
We’re celebrating the sacrificial death and victorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus together this Good Friday and Easter Sunday. That’s right, ALL together our East Lismore congregation AS WELL as Southern Cross Goonellabah will gather together at 9:45am on Good Friday, 9:45am AND 6pm Easter Sunday at Lismore High School. This Sunday, we’ll gather at both locations, but next weekend, we’ll be all together for Easter. I hope you can all join in and enjoy a wonderful time of fellowship together celebrating Christ’s victory over sin and death, proven by his resurrection.
For Southern Cross Goonellabah, our gatherings at Invercauld House will continue again on Sunday April 11.
Also, as Term 1 comes to a close, so too does our first course of Christianity Explored. Today will be our last session together, looking particularly at Mark’s gospel with many participants from SCG as well as quite a few who have been invited to come along and explore just what the bible says about who Jesus is, what he came to do and how we should respond.
Most of those who are doing Christianity explored this term as well as many others from SCG enjoyed a few days away together at our combined Christianity Explored and SCG church family camp. We completed a few sessions of the course, finishing with a bible talk from Acts 23 & 24 incorporating all that we have learned so far in Christianity Explored. Our preaching series in Acts lined up nicely with where we were up to in our journey through the course. And It was certainly a very encouraging weekend away together.
Please prioritise getting along and inviting your friends to Christianity Explored this year. There’ll be three more opportunities to do that. Talk to Stew or myself if you want more information.
And the latest breaking news regarding singing…Praise God! Singing is back from this Sunday! That’s right, restrictions on singing with masks has been lifted from Monday, but an exemption has also been granted which allows us to enjoy singing together without masks from this Sunday.
Well that’s just some of the things happening in our church family. I hope you’ve been enjoying our journey (as I have) through the second half of Acts this term.
Praise God for the gift of his Spirit who works powerfully through his people for our good and for his glory.
I look forward to seeing you soon. This has been The Pastors’ Post.
