Here is a short video from one of our pastors, Matt, as he talks about life at SCPC this week.
Hello, Southern Cross church family! Matt here with the Pastor’s Post – just one week out from Christmas Day.
Well, I’m standing in front of these locked gates at Lismore High School – locked for the school holidays, but on Sunday morning – YES! …. THIS Sunday morning 20th December, these gates will be open for our 9:45am church family gathering. After a long wait due to COVID restrictions and then renovations, we will, from now on, be able to gather here together.
Also…. here at Lismore High, this Sunday afternoon, there’ll be no 6pm gathering, just for this Sunday, because we will be getting together for Carols.
I’m so thankful for the many people who have planned and organised Carols this year; our staff team, kids church leaders, music team, tech and set-up teams – in such difficult and ever-changing circumstances.
A lot of the organising for Carols, especially the music, was done before COVID restrictions eased, and we’ve had to weigh up what changes we can make at short notice. And with all of the uncertainty of this year and with ever-changing circumstances – we’re reminded of the sure hope we have in the rock solid love of our great and glorious, unchanging God.
There will be two sessions for Carols this Sunday afternoon at 3pm and 5pm in the main auditorium, plus a separate program for kids in the MPU and E-block at BOTH session times, to allow more room for more people (so please invite your friends).
So it’s Carols this Sunday afternoon, then 6pm gatherings will resume at Lismore High on 27th December.
For Southern Cross Goonellabah, we’ll be continuing to gather at Invercauld House each Sunday morning at 9am throughout the school holidays and beyond. Praise God for his abundant provision, and please continue to pray for opportunities to connect with that growing area of Goonellabah so we can share the good news of Jesus….
…BUT, we won’t be able to get together in Goonellabah on Christmas Day, so we will be all together on Christmas morning at Lismore High at 9:45am and I look forward to opening up God’s word with you then.
For those who have been zooming in on Sunday mornings – there’ll be a bit of a change just for the school holidays. From Sunday 27th December for 5 weeks, until Sunday 24th January, we won’t zoom at 9:45am but we will continue to zoom from Goonellabah at 9am each Sunday. You’ll find the log in details on the website.
So lots of details for you, sorry if you’re feeling overwhelmed. You might be thinking that you should have grabbed a pen and paper before listening, well feel free to do that! Grab a pen, listen again and make some notes to make the most of the opportunities to be together as a church family. Invite friends, neighbours, family to Carols or Christmas Day or any Sunday.
Praise God for the gift of his Son, who did everything necessary for us to have our relationship with God restored.
I’ll see you very soon….
